Rules of Chessnock

All standard chess rules apply, plus one new rule:

If at least one legal non-capturing move exists, the player must make a non-capturing move.

Capturing is allowed only when no legal non-capturing move exists.

Strategy Tips

Place your queen under attack — it cannot be captured while the opponent has a quiet move
Leave your opponent one useless quiet move — and attack freely
Check becomes deadlier — often it cannot be parried by capture

Key Terms

Inedible Piece

A piece under attack that cannot be captured because the opponent has quiet moves

Forbidden Mate

Checkmate where the king could take the attacker in normal chess, but cannot here due to the rule
